As you relax over your drinks in Mannings do you realise that customers have been doing the same thing for over two hundred years? To be exact it was in 1737 that Mannings actually became an inn, but the name originates right back to 1689, where Robert Mannings kept the premises as a wine and spirit shop. Situated centrally on the Cornhill next to the Town Hall this gem steeped in history has a lot to offer; a wide range of beverages, quality food, friendly staff and both indoor and outdoor sitting areas; the long, narrow, bar area with a wealth of historical artifacts, the outdoor sitting area at the front, where you can watch the world go by or the quiet court yard in the back away from the hustle and bustle of the highstreet (incl. smoking area with trompe l'oeil effect). Overall an ideal stop for shoppers and town workers during the day and theatre and pub goers in the evening. A great selection of beverages (incl.real ales) and food is available from the bar.
