Celebrating Arthur Ransome’s East Coast.

The Shotley Peninsula TAG (Tourist Action Group) will present a series of events in 2017 to mark 50 years since Arthur Ransome died and 80 years since his book, “We Didn’t Mean to Go to Sea” was published. Amongst the Swallows and Amazons stories, “We Didn’t Mean to Go to Sea” was set on the Shotley Peninsula. Events will include walking and cycle trails, geo-caching, photography exhibitions, a drama production, open air cinema, a Swallows and Amazons themed camp and sailing event, Flotilla, the opportunity to see Arthur Ransome’s real boat - the Nancy Blackett, sea shanties and a literary festival.
