10 Things To Do In Ipswich To Celebrate Suffolk Day!

Suffolk Day is just around the corner! You give you 10 things you can do in Ipswich to celebrate being a Suffolk-person...


1. Eat some scrumptious Suffolk food...


Suffolk has some of the best produce in the region. Treat yourself to something deliciously-Suffolk in your lunch break or go for a meal-out in the evening; The Arbor House has a special steak night and Suffolk Food Hall will have some great Suffolk Day specials. It's also summer solstice which can only mean one thing... beer garden!

2. Sneak in some special Suffolk-isms throughout the day...

Learn some Suffolk dialect and talk squit, say suffen stoopid and be proper silly buggers! We Suffolk people ave some roight good wurds so use 'em and be proud!

3. Go for a walk in the beautiful Suffolk countryside...


Ipswich is lucky to be surrounded by wonderful countryside, woodland and rivers, pop out for an evening walk along the River Gipping or the River Orwell or go out to Holbrook or Shotley. You can always pop into a nice country pub afterwards!

4. Drink something brewed in Suffolk...


You could have an Adnams beer or their world-winning gin brewed in Southwold, an Aspall cyder or some Copella fruit juice from Boxford. 5. Visit Ipswich Museum...


Ipswich Museum has rich collections of Anglo Saxon artefacts from across Suffolk along with Victorian taxidermy, natural history exhibits, an ancient Egyptian collection and so much more to discover. And don't forget the famous wooly mammoth!

6. Take a stroll along the waterfront...


Ipswich has a fab waterfront; take a walk, enjoy the water and the sea breeze and maybe pop into Cult Cafe or Pizza Express for some lunch or Isaacs or Aurora for dinner.

7. Enjoy a Ipswich by boat, take a cruise down the River Orwell...


See Ipswich from a different angle. Get aboard Orwell Lady for a tour down the River Orwell all the way to Felixstowe, Shotley and Harwich. Or join Sailing Barge Victor for cream tea and a relaxing sail under the Orwell Bridge and at look out for the unique wildlife.

8. Make a picnic for dinner and eat outside in a park...


With the sun shining late into the evening, why not make a special Suffolk-day picnic dinner, grab a blanket and eat out in your local park? Christchurch Park, Holywells Park, Chantry Park, Bourne Park - they're all beautiful this time of year so enjoy them! 

9. Do something cultural...


Ipswich has got some of the best arts and culture in the county, and some of the best dance and theatre in the world! On Suffolk Day you could see Gypsy at The New Wolsey Theatre, get dancing at DanceEast, visiting Constable's famous paintings of Suffolk at The Wolsey Art Gallery in Christchurch Mansion.

10. Just be proud to be from Suffolk!
