Cornhill

A NEW TOWN SQUARE IN THE HEART OF IPSWICH

Ipswich is undergoing a huge transformation. Aiming to make the county town of Suffolk a vibrant place for businesses, visitors and residents whilst helping to future-proof the high street.

Using respectful design and thoughtful materials, the Cornhill brings the history of Ipswich into the present day and prepares the town for the future.

Conceived by architect Hall McKnight and constructed by local contractors Brooks & Wood, the Cornhill look will become a modern public space within a vibrant and thriving town.

The design has a new water feature surrounded by seating and trees; making a space for everyone to relax and take in the beautiful architecture of the surrounding buildings. A collection of four new arches are being created as a symbolic reference to the four figures on top of the Town Hall and the historic "gateway" that was once the entrance to the town.
