Ipswich County Library

Come and visit Ipswich County Library in Northgate Street.

As well as borrowing fiction and non-fiction books (which you can also reserve and renew online), you can borrow DVDs and CDs, use our free wi-fi and use a computer.

There are loads of regular and one-off events and activities including: bookstart sessions for children and families, reading groups, social activities for older people and plenty of surprising and engaging things to do year round.

You can also access our large reference section, use our Northgate Room for quiet study (which also has wi-fi) and borrow copies of plays and music vocal scores from the Music and Drama service.

You could also use the new Enterprise + Innovation Hub in Ipswich County Library which, has been named The Carnegie Room. Located on the recently adapted second floor of the library, the hub provides three main services: hireable meeting space, business advice and information, and a communal ‘MakerSpace’ (named ‘The Lab’) which contains 3D printers, computer coding kits and professional sewing machines. This space has been created to cater for the diverse needs of businesses, organisations and individuals. Larger businesses may be looking for neutral locations to meet with clients, smaller businesses and start-ups may not have their own professional premises and require economical and central meeting space for group work and interviews.

The hub aims to provide somewhere to suit all these needs with three meeting rooms, a presentation suite, a hot-desk space, a large breakout area and a dedicated kitchen.

Take a look at the website for more details of our services and activities including information on how to book a space in the hub and how to download free eBooks and music.
