Shearwater Sailing School

Shearwater Sailing School has been a family run school for the past 7 years, providing a quality learning experience while having fun and meeting other likeminded people. 

Sailing on the picturesque River Orwell all year round we have a wonderful home sailing ground. However for those who wish to go further we can set sail to France, Belgium and Holland as well as sailing up and down the East coast of the UK. 

We definitely have something for everyone. Whether you are a newcomer to the sailing scene or a salty sea dog just needing that sailing fix, our Skilled RYA Yachtmaster Instructors are always there to give advice or teach you the new skills you need to make this hobby “a Passion for Sailing and Adventure”. From Start Yachting Courses getting you out on the water for the first time where you  will be learning the ropes, to training Yachtmasters with the necessary skills to navigate their way around the world. 

If you wish for something more chilled then why not hire the boat and her skipper to sail you and friends down the river in the evening, enjoying the sunset on a summers evening with a sail and dine with glass of wine ?

We also offer Own Boat Tuition if you a lucky enough to have your own craft. Plus to keep you going through the winter we run Day Skipper and Yachtmaster theory classes as well as our VHF, First Aid and Radar courses.
